Introducing Covewater's Nohea line of Women's Stand Up Paddleboards

Nohea is the Hawaiian word for lovely, and these boards are exactly that.  Covewater's Nohea range of stand up paddleboards has been carefully designed specifically for the female paddler with the following specifications and criteria in mind:

 Light  ~  Stable  ~  Excellent Glide  ~  Short  ~  Beautiful  ~  Affordable

Following are the boards that comprise the Nohea line

1      7      2_compressed_for_docs

9'6" Nohoa

$995

Length:  9'6"
Width:  32"
Thickness:  4 3/8"
Volume:  164 liters
Fins:  2+1
Weight:  22 lbs

The 9'6" is the smallest of the Nohea line - short enough to fit inside your car, yet long enough to produce good glide and track straight while paddling.  The wide nose, center point and tail, combined with a full, tall rail, provide for excellent stability even in rougher waters and chop.  While this board's bottom contours are designed to excell in flat water, the 9'6" Nohea is very comfortable and stable in small waves as well.  The 9'6" Covewater Nohea features a fuchsia to royal blue fade deck and bottom.  The Nohea is just $995 until President's Day, Feb 20th (reg $1,199)!

Thickness:  4 1/2"
Volume:  174 liters

The 10'0" is the medium length of the Nohea line.  Short enough to fit inside SUVs, but long enough to give excellent glide and track straight while paddling.  The wide nose, center-point and tail, combined with a full, tall rail, provide for excellent stability even in rougher waters or chop.  While this board's bottom contours are designed to excel in flat water water, the 10'0 is comfortable and stable in small waves as well.  The 10'0" Covewater Nohea features a mango to yellow fade deck and bottom.  The Nohea is just $995 until Presidents' Day, Feb 20th (reg $1,199)!.

 10'6" Nohea
$995

Length:  $10'6"
Width:  31"
Thickness:  4 1/2"
Volume:  183 liters
Fins:  2+1
Weight:  25 lbs

The 10'6" is the longest of the Nohea line.  Can fit inside larger SUVs, but the still relatively short 10'6 means its a manageable size to get up onto the roof of a car if needed.  The slightly longer length as compared to the other boards in the Nohea range means this board will have the best speed and glide of the range, as well as track in a straight direction extremely well.  The wide nose, center-point and tail provide for excellent stability, even in rough waters and wind chop conditions.

While the Nohea's bottom contours are designed to excel for flat water paddling, the 10'6 will effortlessly catch smaller waves, and provide outstanding stability for those exploring fun, small waves out of the way of crowds.  The added length and volume will also allow the beginner or less SUP conditioned woman excellent stability and confidence.  A great board that can be shared with others (think friends and out-of-town-guests) as well.  The Nohea is just $995 until Presidents' Day, Feb 20th (reg $1,199)!

The Covewater Classic Northern California SUP Championship in set for Saturday, July 16th at Capitola Beach!

Full details and event schedule at:  CovewaterClassic.com

Covewater Paddle Surf, the first dedicated stand-up paddleboard shop in Northern California, announced today that they will be the presenting sponsor of the Surftech Jay Moriarity Memorial Paddleboard Race taking place June 26th at New Brighton State Beach.  Now in its ninth year, the open ocean event commemorates the memory of great Santa Cruz Waterman Jay Moriarity.  Proceeds benefit the Santa Cruz County Junior Lifeguard Programs specifically to purchase paddleboards and provide scholarships in Jay’s name.

The prestigious race is the largest of its kind in Northern California.  Paddlers, both stand-up and prone, gather from around the country for this annual event to remember and honor the legacy of the respected waterman.

“I really enjoyed participating in the Jay race the past two years, and I have great respect for what this event is all about, so to be able to step up as the presenting sponsor is an honor,” said Scott Ruble, co-owner of Covewater Paddle Surf.   “This is more than just a high-profile race; it has become a beloved Santa Cruz tradition in honor of one of its finest sons.”

The race kicks off at 8am with a tribute to Jay, followed by a 12 mile race for both paddleboards and stand-ups, and then two mile race.  There are also free races for kids age 12 and under beginning at 11am, with soft paddleboards provided.  California State Lifeguards will patrol all races, and a family-friendly atmosphere abounds at this fun event.

All competitors receive a goodie bag, tee-shirt, competitor’s jersey, fresh Peet’s coffee, snacks, and a Hawaiian plate lunch from Aloha Island Grill.  There will also be a raffle with great prizes from the race’s various sponsors.

I’m Leslie Ruble, and along with my husband Scott, we own and run Covewater Paddle Surf.  Our website has the full scoop on the paddleboard shop, what we’re about and what we hope to bring to the SUP scene in Northern California.  The blog is where we’ll keep you in the loop on the latest with the shop, local SUP events, as well as cool tidbits about the sport we all love, stand up paddleboarding.

As Santa Cruz locals, creating a space to meet the needs of the SUP community has been a dream of ours for a long time, and over the last year Scott and I have been pouring a heck of a lot of effort into making it happen: prepping a welcoming SUP shop, designing some cool clothing with our logo, and of course choosing the best boards and accessories for all levels of stand up paddlers.  Covewater opens in less than a month, and we think you’ll be stoked with how it all came together.

This is one of the most exciting adventures we’ve ever tackled, and we’re glad to have you along for the ride.  We look forward to welcoming you into the Covewater family!  Aloha!
